Monday Letter 3/4/13 - 3/8/13

Virtue of the Month: Faithfulness

6th History: Continue Section 3 Part 1: Ancient Greece

6th Literature: Primary Focus: Greek god Research Project; Presentations begin this week; Continue The Odyssey Section

8th History: Continue Rise of the British Empire Section with focus on Gandhi Section and Final Project

8th Literature:
Continue The Good Earth Section

7th History: Continue with Russian Revolution Section.

7th Literature: Continue Call of the Wild Section

7th Art & Music: Continue regular music classes; Continue Impressionism Section

7th Computers: Computer classes continue this week

Daily Classwork and Homework Assignments 3/6/13

6th Literature: Students reviewed proper presentation expectations and then began Day 2 of their Greek god Presentations. (Greek Mythology)
Homework: Greek god Research: Be prepared for Day 3 of Presentations.

6th History: Students began a Chapter 10 Review Activity, which focused on: the northern, southern, eastern, and western extents of Alexander the Great's empire, and the reasons that countries around the Mediterranean Sea adopted Greek innovations in architecture, government, education, etc.
Homework: N/A

7th Literature: Students shared their Study Guide Packet answers for Chapter 2 in a Whole Class Activity in order to properly model future responses. Focus: Adaptation, Cause & Effect (C.O.T.W.)
Homework: N/A

7th History: Students finished taking notes and discussing the function of Russia's "pillars of autocracy", which allowed the Czar to stay in absolute power. Students also focused on the different groups of people that made up Russian society. Focus: aristocracy, bourgeoisie, proletariat, peasants, industrialization (Russian History)
Homework: Review Notes

8th Literature: Students participated a Partner Activity that revolved around the main sections of Chapters 5-9. (The Good Earth)
Homework: Finish questions in preparation for tomorrow.

8th History: Students continued taking Active notes on the film Gandhi. Focus: Independence of India, Muslims as minorities, Hindus as the majority, Pakistan, riots, and Gandhi's 2nd fast. (Indian History)
Homework: Freewrite: Respond to the advice Gandhi gives to a desperate Hindu man that fears he is beyond forgiveness. Prepare to share Freewrite with class. Continue researching and preparing for Gandhi project according to Rubric.
